Featured Artist at The Salvaged Studio-Opening Reception July 12, 5-9 pm

The Salvaged Studio & Gallery will open its first Featured Artist Show with “Collecting the
Uncollectible: Art & Jewelry of Tiffany Knopow” on Friday, July 12th 2013.

The Salvaged Studio & Gallery will celebrate its grand opening with an artist reception from 5:00-9:00pm on Friday, July 12, 2013 for “Collecting the Uncollectible: Art & Jewelry of Tiffany Knopow”. Ms. Knopow creates her work from dryer lint, Shout© Color Catcher sheets, and paper wasp nests. In it, she seeks to create systems to capture fleeting phenomena; items that are too common, too gross, or intangible to exist in a proper collection. Ms. Knopow says, “My hope in each collection is to create something so beautiful that the viewer is compelled to investigate the piece and then be completely surprised by the material.”

The show is the first in a regular bi-monthly featured artist series to be held at the new gallery which is located in a historic and recently renovated 1920’s building in the Washington Heights neighborhood. It is part art jewelry studio, part gallery, and all about celebrating the art of creative reuse. The gallery represents fine art, woodwork, sculpture, jewelry, accessories and upstyled home furnishings created by American artists with a focus on art and craft created salvaged materials. The studio is where the owner, Rachael Brooke Winkley, creates jewelry from vintage tea tins, serving trays, and other old metal objects.

It's Workshop Time Again!!!

It's that wonderful time of year, workshop time!!!

This printing workshop is amazing!  We will be using the sun and natural items (leaves, blossoms, twigs, etc) to make our work for us.  I assure you that everyone will have a beautiful piece, it's impossible to make a sun painting or print that looks bad.  Plus, it's a lot of fun and so easy.  I promise that you will be addicted after this workshop.  Please sign up, registration is ending soon.

Printing with the Sun (ages 14+)

Saturday, June 22, 10:00 am-2:30 pm
