November is time to take a class!

This November I will be teaching a variety of classes at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center and the Museum of Wisconsin Art.  Please sign up soon if you are thinking about exploring your creativity this fall.

Introduction to Printmaking (Adult--ages 14 and up)--Mondays, November 1-29, 6:15-8:45 pm
Curious about printmaking but don’t know where to start? This class will introduce a variety of printmaking options to the non-printmaker. Relief printmaking, monotyping, and screen printing will be explained and demonstrated in a way that you will be able to reproduce at home. Cost: $98/$88 BackStage Members
 
Paper Making (Adult--ages 14 and up)-- Saturday, November 20, 10:00 am-2:30 pm
Learn to make your own handmade paper. In this class students will learn how to recycle old papers and materials to create new and stunning pieces of paper that can be used in a variety of future projects such as college, books, printmaking, and much more. Cost: $48/$2 BackStage Members
 
Screen Printing 101 (ages 9-12) --Mondays, November 1-29, 4:00-5:30 pm
Learn the basics of screen printing while making cards and t-shirts. We will use a variety of techniques to apply the image to the screen, all by hand. The students will use their own designs to create each masterpiece. Cost: $70/$64 BackStage Members

The Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend
 
Relief Printmaking (Adult--ages 14 and up)--Tuesdays, November 2-November 30, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Learn techniques of one of the oldest methods of reproducing images. Students will learn relief printmaking basics; preparing an image for the plate, carving on a variety of plates, printing and editioning plates. A supply list will be sent with class confirmation. Cost: $70/MWA member $55
 
Shadow Puppetry Pizzaz (ages 8-13) --Tuesdays, November 2-November 30, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Explore the different styles and histories of puppets from across the world. Using Indonesian and Chinese puppets for inspiration, each student will create several one-of-a-kind shadow puppets. And as a group, the class will create a puppet play and present the performance to family and friends at the museum as a finale to the class on Tuesday, November 30. Cost: $55/MWA member $40
 
Stamp, Stencil, Screen (ages 6-10)--Tuesdays, November 2-30, 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Learn a variety of basic techniques of relief and screenprinting, two different techniques of transferring ink onto paper. Explore these methods of printmaking and also learn how to bind the original prints into a unique book. Public: $50/MWA member $35

Thanks to Frank Juarez of EFFJAY PROJEKTS for creating a wonderful video of the show at Studio 731 during the Riverwest Gallery Walk from Oct. 2-3, 2010.
